Charagumin Revy!!! Great build

This was a very fun build!  It took about as long as a painted MG gundam build.  Charagumin kits are advertised as garage kits easy enough for beginners.  I would say that is accurate and even completely unpainted they look okay, but they really come alive with some painting.  Only tools you need are a hobby knife, sand paper or stick, and for one piece I needed a rotary tool.

Gun came in a flat silver color of resin, so some paint was necessary.

The decals are water slides and the arm tattoo was one big water slide.  Mark setter and softer were necessary.  I was disappointed that the tattoos were blue.  The directions were all in japanese  (with a lot of writing ) so I’m not sure if there was some way to activate a color change.  I ended up using the water slide as a  template and painted over it.  The eyes both ended up cracking on me but with a little paint touch up and top coat they looked great.

I’m always suprised how a little dry brushing can change a piece.  The shorts were a solid dark royal blue and with some dry brushing with white paint they looked like denim.

The boots were solid green so I just painted the black in.  I painted the gloves on the hands as well.  It was these painted details that made the kit look great.

I did not paint the skin because I really liked the tone of it.  I did use different top coats on different parts so they would look like different materials: flesh, boots, shorts, gloves were done in satin, hair and eyes gloss, holster toned down gloss, tank top flat.  These different finishes are subtle but come together to make a nicely.

I feel that this figure came out looking as good as any figures I have seen under $200.  With some highlighting and shadowing this could outshine and production anime statue.  Size is great too, she stands 8.5 inches tall.
Future plans are a wood base and diorama with a tree for her to be looking around

New Product from Volks

20151121_145424

In an attempt to import some unique Japanese models we have added Volks Inc products to our line up. Volks is famous for their Dollfie line which is made up of $1000+ dolls.  But what drew me to Volks is the color resin kits called Charagumin:

Color Resin Kit Series CharaGumin. Just assemble the parts made from
colored urethane resin and your figure is complete!

What is CharaGumin

Have you ever had trouble making garage kits?

A lot of tools and skills are needed for the building and painting of garage kits.
However, there is a greater sense of achievement and pleasure to be had from putting in the time and effort to assemble a figure!
You can make it the only one of its kind in the world! This is the essence of garage kit building.

Have you ever felt that there’s something missing from the hobby life? That it’s just about buying and displaying stuff? We want more people to personally experience the joy that comes from completing something with your own hands!

Making figure assembly more accessible and fun!
It was with this philosophy that
the “CharaGumin” (Character + Assembly) were created.

Volks realized the “CharaGumin” project through its know-how of development and production
that it had accumulated over the years. They’re designed to be very beginner friendly while still
retaining the superb quality Volks is known for.

If you’re not really a painter

Worry not, for all that’s required is the assembly! Even the eyes, which are a big pain in the bum to paint, can be easily finished using the provided sticker!

For those who paint

Due to the way the details on the parts are divided (something only possible with an assembly kit), it is possible to paint almost all the parts without having to do any masking!
Two types of face parts are included for your enjoyment.

The primary goal of any hobby is enjoyment, and nothing is more enjoyable than the sense of satisfaction you get from accomplishment!

Also I brought in Volks Pro-Zetsu Nippers which has been called the runner up nippers to the God Hands
